Overview
Open-channel ultrasonic flow meter is a most commonly used device of measuring flow rate in an open channel. Flow in an open channel is measured by inserting a hydraulic structure into the channel, and there are 2 types of hydraulic structure: flumes and weirs.
Using ultrasonic level technology, open channel ultrasonic flow meters include a non-contacting transducer mounted above the flume or weir. By measuring the time from transmission of an ultrasonic signal to receipt of an echo, the water level is accurately measured.
